Choosing and Cutting Glass Tiles
Different mosaic projects call for different materials. For outdoor items like birdbaths or flower pots, glazed ceramic and porcelain tiles are highly durable and weather-resistant.
For indoor light-transmitting pieces like lanterns, candle holders, or wall mirrors, glass tiles and iridised gems reflect light beautifully and create vibrant highlights.
When you need custom shapes, a pair of wheeled glass cutters is your best friend. Position the glass tile between the two wheels, apply gentle pressure, and the tile will snap cleanly along the line.
Always wear safety goggles when cutting tiles to protect your eyes from small flying shards. Work over a shallow box or tray to catch the cut pieces easily.
